i always say it depends on what you are doing, from bench marks it seems gaming only, i7 might be better, however I believe few people do only gaming on a pc, say you game, but have a guide up, or a tutorial video or you also do engineering homework when not gaming. depending on whats going on at the same time as gaming, the extra threads/ cores may be worth it, however that noited an i7 likely still will do enough for ya.

now a good case ryzen may have going for it in gaming is frame stability, it seems to have higher 1% / .01% lows, making the visibility of fps dips potentially less noticeable

in many ways thats fantastic, its good to know that we can now start working on a defense sytem, however i also have no doubt that if you can see a proof of concept someone already has a malware form doing SOMETHING, or at least one in the works. now i prefer to think of ways this can be used for good, like pseudo malware, say you voluntarily download a virus that runs specific calculations to help a larger body do multi-computer computing for something. its pretty cool to me and id like to see what comes of it, or ya know..if we find some governmental virus was there all along.

planning to get a ryzen system eventually,so i can finaly stream games, as my current toaster cant do much beyond SNES emulation streams. I am more likely to get a 1400 to keep within budget, as i don't really have the means to be building anything higher than that and some other budget parts. however this givewaya would be a chance to not only get a better mobo and CPU, but also skip the horrendus RAM prices going around. its insane how 16 GB of 3200 ram costs almost as much a freaking CPU now.
