Honestly it is scary to people who are dumb uneducated on bitcoin but it actually pretty cool setup the problem with it. Is the anonymous nature of bitcoins is definitely drawing in the wrong kind of people and allowing them to be used for bad. But overall the setup is still in limbo and technically speaking more stable than most countrys.
Booming tech due to booming education add fact that provo actually gave google the rights to the prexisting fiber network. Meaning all some upgrades and other minimal work and google can have working network shaving tons of the cost down for google. These are the reasons why they went to provo first also larger citys require more permitting and planning due to you have to have fiber and fiber requires trenching.
My guess is new york and all those are in the works its just more work more stuff they have to do to comply.
Hey I am for healthy competition no one should go unchecked for so long personally they have done hell of a job dont think I am ready to go back still too cluttered. But cleaned up user interface and actually have decent search results now I don't search banana and find a bunch of websites about birds so that is good.
If this was supposedly about terrorist why use such a wasteful system why collect trillions upon trillions of gigs of information. When everyone linked and convicted because of fisa warrant could probably fit onto a oldschool cd rom less than a gig. Why spend billions upon billions shuffling through meaningless data when real police work and real world leads are more direct less invasive and more affective for a tenth of the cost.
And why the secrecy around it ok you don't want to tip off criminals. But cats out of the bag and they still wont talk about how invasive it is we can know about how many request were made and to which company's. But we cant find out how bad our civil rights have been violated.
To me this whole thing stinks there are more effective ways at stop terrorist that cost less. Without arming a political time bomb seriously why would any politician go with this if there wasn't something much more to gain. Add the IRS targeting leaked donor list ect it would not surprise me to know this was being used in a similar fashion to target political enemy's.
Fiber has been relatively expensive I know when I first started seeing new housing developments use fiber it was only in very lavish rich areas. And really it was a bonus not expected the first one I saw cost something like 20k per house granted it was a pretty big development but I dont think anything else roads power ect came close. And now its fairly common to get it for under 5k per home.
But combine old prices with the fact that most internet companys didnt have to compete. It was litterally comcast held 80% of market and at&t and other places like it held rural areas that didnt have comcast. While local companys spurred out they didnt often take alot of customers, and since local network normally isnt big enough to get peer agreement those local companys had to shell out to tie into the bigger companys backbones.
Competition is a friend to consumers in a free market but lately until several companys started to make a push. Internet providers have become complacent due to lack of competition. Why offer a service for 20% markup when you can get 1000% why put more effort in providing a better service if customers will not leave.
Utah has alot of things that make it prime by targeting provo if they spread a couple blocks into orem which is right next to provo literally you dont realize when your has switched towns. Anyways that would next them two fairly large colleges and there housing complexes which would provide solid customer base and cheap but decent workforce. Also as we are not environutty in our state the cost of digging up places to lay line is not to extreme and with low state taxes who can complain.
Also we have novell I think primary location and a Symantec branch and a new nasa data center. Its a booming right now with tech companys.
It will definitely take away alot of the experience for me. Personally I hate always online for a myriad of reason but look at this recent outage. Xbox live has been around for almost a decade it is practically as stable as they can ever make it. But there is still outages and what happens when new servers ect are put in place for new live is it going to be as stable hell no. Also games that require online have had a track record of insane ques crashes and a myriad of problems.
Add the extra cost some dont xbox users dont use live or have internet it could raise cost for some user 100 bucks a month. And xbox could be feeling extra douche making it so everyone has to have a live account or locking games to accounts. So familys ect would have to buy five xbox live subs and five games all at full price because at this point used games are not allowed.
I think it so true I dont see why more places do not embrace this philosphy because I see companys spending millions and 100k man hours to try to stop it. Hell post it first with ads you could beat any other posters by 15-20 minutes have faster downloads. And best part is you can get way more accurate numbers of who is watching your show than through cable which is alot of estimates and surveys that people dont always participate in. It may not be a good plan for a place like hbo where they charge extra on top of cable.
But for basic cable tv show I could see it being extremely beneficial. Because by embracing you make money of the ads by posting file first with just a couple adds. But then your also not spending millions trying to chase and send everyone a letter saying hey stop that stop that and ignore ignore then you finally get them to court and spend thousands trying to get settlement court agrees on settlement. But wait they dont have money so they bankrupt or just dont pay. Even with uploaders that they occasionally do get taken down and get a couple million they most likely still spent more trying to stop it. And within a week before next episode there is another uploader that has replaced them.
Honestly this is another move to keep ceo cashing same check as he was when growing the company. But who can blame them removing jobs for more automation everyone's doing it. But its actually whats stalemated recovery from this world wide crisis.
This type of thinking is bad think about it if every company streamlines and automates 10% of their employees. Even when they reach the peaks they were at before since alot of lost jobs wont come back even with increased demand. Less jobs= less money per person= less spent per person= less income= ceos trying to recover lost income by streamlining and automating production= less jobs. Its loop honestly I dont see how people dont see this as non sustainable. Average billion dollar corporation has gone from 26-32% tax rate thirty years ago to14-23%. While over last forty we have seen the top 1% of income earners see increase of around 300% while middle class earners have not even kept up with inflation.
Correction billion dollar suit got repealed when they found out that foreman of the jury had been directly involved on personal level lawsuit. With cases against samsung and company's that samsung directly relied on for large % of their business.
