Thank you for the link. As long as the 9600 runs BF2 good then I'll be a happy camper. If it doesn't then I can always send it back or find a way to resell it and buy something better.

Oh, and I don't think the 9600 I ordered is a regular 9600. It's a 9600XT so I'm assuming the extra little "XT" means it's better.

Should I just try to sell the 9600 card when it arrives for around the same price as I payed for it and then buy the 9800 as was the original plan or will this system not be able to take advantage of a 9800 Pro??

Also, is the 9600 Pro really not a big improvement? The Geforce 4600 this system is using is only 128MB and the 9600 Pro I just ordered is 256MB. Isn't the MB the key feature of a video card? Please educate me a little. I feel so dumb right now.

I assumed the 9600 I bought from eBay was a bargain price. The item said it was new (so I assume it isn't used) and it said it was on sale... but then again I don't really know enough about these video cards to know whether it's a good bargain or not. I just followed the people's advice to get a 9600 because one seemed to suggest that this system wouldn't be able to take advantage of a 9800 and a few suggested I shop from eBay.

On a side note, if the card doesn't work I believe I can always send it back. I wish you had some something sooner though... I'm trying to make progress here.

Well... I just ordered this video card... I hope it works!

ATI Radeon 9600XT 256Mb Video Card 9600 XT V11
Sale price: $64.95

Assuming it does work... now I just need to buy 2x256RD RAM for up to $100.00. If anyone sees any please let me know! =)

Thank you all so much for the help. You're all great ppl

WOOT I HOPE UR RIGHT! =) And in regard to the ebay thing, in order to sell stuff it says I have to have a "sellers account" which requires a credit or debit card. There doesn't appear to be any options to bypass this. Ebay says it's to verify age or some nonesense like that. Anyway, I guess I'm now on the market to buy some cheap 2X256RD RAM! =)

It sucks that I can't sell items on Ebay just because I don't have a credit card =(

In regard to the 2X256MB sticks of RD RAM available on ebay: that's the problem. I currently have 2X256RM RD ram already in the system but the other two slots are full with some other smaller sticks and I have no idea what they are. I don't dare to just yank them out and toss them away so I've been trying to find 2X512 sticks of RD RAM since I only have two slots available (with the other two being filled).

I can afford the 9800 Pro... which would perform better on this machine though (the 9800 Pro or the 9600)?

Wow! I've never used ebay before now and that was sort of fun! I just placed a $76.00 bid on a Radeon 256MB 9800 Pro with only 1 minute remaining (so I'd get the highest bid) but someone else must have placed a bid of one dollar more in the last 30 seconds or so (I lost the bid). Oh well... I'll keep shopping.
