Is it possible to just install windows 7 on a spare usb flash drive and just plug it in whenever you boot up the pc?

I haven't done this, but it occurs to me today that all I need is my Win 7 partition cloned to the SSD where the Win 10 is installed, so technically couldn't I just create partition on the SSD and just clone the Win 7 Partition and use something like GRUB to get the partition recognized as a boot partition? I really don't want to have to do a clean install of Win 7 and then reinstall everything that's on the Win 7 partition if I can avoid it, it's gonna save me a headache if I can.

That's called Windows To Go and is only available with the Enterprise versions of Windows 8/10. You also need a USB key that meets certain speed specs. I know Ironkey sells (or perhaps used to sell) some USB keys with Windows To Go on them.
