Hi guys if you have seen my other posts by now you know I have a Asus C90S and C90P, they are both desktop replacements, I am currently using the C90S, the C90P is actually a C90P mobo in another C90S that the motherboard needed replacing, the only thing different is the mobo and power regulator board, otherwise it's pretty much the same except that the C90P can max out at Xeon Quad Core vs C90S corer 2 with 8 GB memory VS. C90S 3 GB and has BIOS ROM chip programming on the board itself. Obviously the C90P is much better and could run more high end applications. My problem is that I have yet to be able to update the BIOS and I don't have a CHIP programmer. What I have been able to do is get a core E8400 CPU to boot into BIOS and and the BIOS is the oldest AMIBIOS made for that model and try as I may with that CPU I can not update the BIOS, without updating the BIOS I can not "unleash the full power of the CPU" that means and even get it to recognize drivers in Win7 which it does not and of coure be able to max it out which in this case compared is a measly Core 2 8400. I have utilized both the USB and CD method I was able to flash it with EZ Flash with a USB drive but for some reason the BIOS stays the same. On another forum that I will not name for the reason that I don't know if the rules allow that here, there is a fellow who was able to update the BIOS with the E8400, same C90P board in the same C90S housing with C90P Power Board and he was able to succeed at updating the BIOS and then he updated it again and he was able to run a Xeon with no issues, but I can no longer communicate with him. If anyone out there has this old model still around and can help me figure this out I would really appreciate it, I don't want to give up on this I have too much money and time put into it and it would be a pretty big loss for me, added to the fact that my C90S is too slow and problematic, but I don't have anything else at the moment to work with.

Thanks

Ok so so far no one on this planet can help me figure this thing out I think I'm going to buy a quad core processor as close to the one that worked and see if that will let me update the BIOS other than that I'm at a loss on why it won't permanently update the BIOS.

the only way i could conceive of getting the bios to accept the change is by rewriting the bios which is crazy stupid and can damage your equipment if not done safely. if you could get in touch with that guy you could get the bios from him.

the bios likely isnt flashing because the mobo sees it as an older version of the bios. manufacturers will update just to prevent exploits that prevent them from getting money.

So probably best to upgrade?

Well I'm trying to upgrade to a gaming PC, but I don't have the funds at this time, unless I should win one in one of the contests I've entered and we all know the odds of that happening lol So that leaves me with what I got. As for the BIOS he used I have it but as you said Tman, it's being rejected by the mobo because the mobo is old, if the other guy was able to do it why can't I? I should stress that I have gotten the BIOS to update but it doesn't stay updated. Sad thing is he doesn't have his C90P anymore, he tried running an external GPU and it got fried.

You have pretty good odds of winning TBH.
