The one I have right now is some verizon fios quantum thingy. I wanted to know if it was good because I am paying $10 a month for it

It all comes down to preference and what you can afford. If you can afford a $1000 business router, get it if you want to. You could also get Googles new OnHub :P Just depends, do some research, YouTube video watching, and Amazon searching!

ASUS makes nice routers but unless you're having issues with your current router there may not be a reason to upgrade.

First you need to determine if Verizon can just give you the modem without the router, then figure the cost of the modem rental. Another option would be to use your own modem and router. Comcast offers that option, not sure if Verizon does.

If you are using Verizon's whole home DVR, you have to use their router because it uses MoCa.

You can buy a new router if you'd like, but it is an extra expense, and if you aren't experiencing any problems right now, I wouldn't bother.

Probably jaded, I like that sort of stuff. I like being able to find what I am going to use by comparing the electronics to other electronics and comparing prices. I find that fun with anything! Routers, PC parts, etc etc :P
