What modpack are you using or is that a texture pack that changes torches?

I'm currently using a handful of small resource packs by "CoolScreenName" as part of his "1.9 CSN Default 3D" resource pack.

Full details can be found here: http://www.planetminecra...re_pack/3d-minecraft-19/

If you've not worked with Minecraft 1.9's Resource Pack system yet, it works almost the same as the old Texture Pack System except that this one, notably, features the ability to use custom models as well as textures, allows you to implement item-by-item customization, and can be combined with command blocks to actually create new items in the game (effectively allowing mods to occur on a Vanilla server; although I've yet to see this feature implemented anywhere since 1.9 fully launched).

I could of sworn you could have done this in 1.8, idk. Anyways, thank for the infos!

You could, but not as easily, and it wasn't officially supported.

I've done some stuff before with friends, but I've never been part of a dedicated "build team". If you or anyone you know has such a build team, please consider this my application, all stuff I've done on servers before (all pictures have a mouse-over caption):

The "Admin Castle":

The walls outside "The Admin Castle"... Full of bedrock that reaches to level 0. Command blocks make passing over top impossible.

The "Admin Castle" itself. The inside contains a bunch of complex commands rigged to single button pushes.

Interior of the main living area

"Laketon" Suburban Neighborhood:

I copy pasted the same house many times, and then everyone made slight material and cosmetic tweaks.

"Little Japan":

Made this along with my buddy Tom. Took us only a couple of hours, memory serving me correctly.

Working Aqueducts:

This system is capable of allowing water to flow from a single source block any distance you're willing/able to continue the build. Supports branching and sub-branching as well.

Central Spawn Castle:

A castle very near to the world spawn, offering safety to new players, along with every convenience they might need, and a central station where all of the World Gates return to.

Combat Spleef Arena:

Fully Redstone Equipped, featuring an option for automatic team balancing, score board announcments, weapon spawns, arena repairs, and more.

I actually have someone, who if you are willing to work for for pay, could hire you as a builder... Let me get on that.

When I first heard of Minecraft, I got the impression it was a subscription thing, not sure if that was true, but I avoid subscriptions like cats avoid water bottles, so I never took a second look despite the internet's ongoing fascination with the game. But those screencaps look pretty sweet. Reminds me of my distant lego days.

It's not a subscription, just a flat purchasing fee like any other game. If you liked LEGOs you will like Minecraft. Maybe not survival mode, but creative for sure. The game is $27 on minecraft.net or you can save a couple bucks (literally $2) buying through G2A, but if you're like me, your bank won't like China processing your credit card, so the extra $2 might be worth it. I'll check with my buddies to see if anyone has a key sitting around spare.

I've been playing Auralux 2 lately. Auralux is a minimalist mobile RTS game, definitely on android probably on iOS as well. It's like Eufloria a little in that resources/territory/units are all tied together. Capture stars, once you have them, they pump out units. Auralux 2 adds a lot of little things (black holes, white holes, fog, and more), but it mostly feels similar to the first, which is nice. No need to reinvent this wheel.

Nicest of all is that it isn't that annoying IAP model where it's constantly hassling you for powerups or advertising. The first 10 or levels are free as a demo, after that you can buy 10 levels at a time (a constellation) for $1 or $2, or all of them for ~$10. I paid $10 and the two new constellations that have been added since then were both covered as well as the ones already in place, so it's a good deal IMO. Especially if you've got credit to burn from Google rewards.
