" pressuring the company to make assurances that it will continue to support the old net neutrality rules"
What kind of BS is this? This is the type of thing some third world banana republic would do.
Instead of requesting some installer at Comcast to guarantee that he will uphold the net neutrality rules, why not make it part of the requirements for the companies in order to perform the transaction?
This is just some BS publicity stunt by Leahy trying to make the stupid people who listen to this drivel believe he is doing something for his freaking paycheck and lifetime pension and medical insurance.
In reality, as soon as the ink is almost dry on the deal, pay to play is going to be implemented, and all of our internet access prices are going to go up.
I'm calling it now.
We, the American people, who keep these bozo's in office year after year after year, are going to get royally screwed. Not today, maybe not tomorrow, but when the companies feel they won't get too much crap for it, they will implement slow lanes on the internet.
Vote out the incumbents people! (Those are the people who currently hold office) Get some new blood in there! Someone who might not be beholden to some group or other, someone who might give a crap what happens to the country instead of their paycheck!
Totally agree with you, Fred. [Y]
