Was thanked: 3 time(s) in 3 post(s)
Last week I was sent a rather bizarre picture of my likeness, doubled over as if I was being reflected in a mirror.  The message read "wouldn't you agree that two is better than one?"  This week, two cans of potato chips, a bottle of Hawaiian Volcanic water and specific details of a mission assignment were sent to me.  All of this originating from AMD's PR firm of record. Hmm...

PR firms are full of creative types.  It's there job.  Create a little mystery, generate a little buzz - I get it. In all my years at this gig, this has to be one of the more creative and dare I say cryptic efforts I've seen so far.  But alas, we're a bit smarter than the average bear around these parts, right? Let's decipher...

So, AMD is implying that two of something is obviously better than one of something.  I would have to agree for the most part, though there are exceptions.  Two broiled Lobster tails, a couple of beers or a pair of tickets to Red Sox game on a sunny Saturday afternoon - all very much better. Two teeth that need root canal - ehhh, not so much.  Two GPUs, as in the latest Hawaii-based (*cough, pass the volcanic spring water please*) Radeon R9 290X on a single card?  Yep, that would definitely be way better than one.

Rumors have been circulating that AMD's dual Hawaii GPU card, code named "Vesuvius," is imminent.  If these cryptic, top-secret, self-destructing shipments we're getting are any indication of how close we are to the rumors becoming reality, then you should definitely stay tuned.

Just downed the water at the gym this morning too. And I lived to tell the tale.  Tasty, that Hawaii water is...

I'm betting the card will self-destruct as well. Thing is going to start fires.
