Intel SSD 730 Series: Enthusiast Class StorageIntel has established a strong record in the solid state storage space, dating all the way back to 2008 with its debut of the excellent X25-M series of drives. Back then, Intel upped the ante in enthusiast-targeted solid state storage, and they want to do it again with the drive we’ll be showing you here today, the upcoming Intel SSD 730.

The new Intel SSD 730 will be the company’s latest flagship consumer-targeted SSD. The drive, however, features technology gleaned from Intel’s experience in data centers, and is actually quite similar to the DC S3500 we reviewed back in June. Intel is doing a few things to set this drive apart, though. The SSD 730’s controller and NAND components are have gone through additional qualification at the factory and the drive’s firmware is tuned for high performance...

These are probably one of the best all around SSDs on the market right now.

No point to have that nice Skull logo on something going inside a case. Even if the case had a window you wouldn't see it.

NICE SSD! Too bad I can't put one in my in my Macbook Air.

Digitaldd; I don't think it is so much for looks as it is just an identifier for what drive it is. Easier to tell the difference with a skull on it than comparing model numbers.

These SSDs are getting harder and harder to resist, especially with performance like this for about $1/GB.

In that case I would like to recommend the next model have a dragon on it.

Why is there no article on how long these SSD will last? I hope the 480 GB will go down in price, but if they do it will because a 750 GB has come out and I will start drooling and crying again. :(

Can we see side-by-side comparisons with other SSDs? I've got a Crucial 500m (it has about 2/3 the transfer speed, so I know it's slower among SSDs but it's far better than the 6 year old HDD I was using) and I know it can't compete with this, but I'd love to see how it stands up to some of the other SSDs like the Samsung Evo or the Toshiba Q series stuff.

It's sincerely cool to have this disk, if it could design for portalbe device will be so great. Regarding on this, I have noticed a seemed new promoted USB3.0 SSD looks like a small Mac PC in the market, and it seem there is a lucky draw in this period, just have a tried and now cross my fingers. Easy to participate, just follow them and re-twit message with goo.gl/o9we1A.
