If you can't find a Zotac-brand GeForce GTX 580 videocard that suits your fancy, it's certainly not from a lack of available options. That's because Zotac today announced yet another GTX 580 variant, the AMP2 Edition, which is the company's fourth videocard built around Nvidia's GTX 580 architecture.

Zotac also sells an 'ordinary' AMP Edition GTX 580, but unlike that model, the AMP2 doubles the amount of RAM to 3GB and includes a custom cooler outfitted with high-performance heatpipes and "whisper-quiet" dual orange 92mm fans.

"Enthusiast gamers demand the absolute best performance available. With the Zotac GTX 580 AMP2 Edition, we are able to boost high-resolution gaming performance while reducing noise levels and temperatures," said Carsten Berger, marketing director, Zotac International.

Other details include:
  • Engine clock: 815MHz
  • 512 unified shaders
  • Shader clock: 1630MHz
  • Memory clock: 4100MHz
  • 384-bit memory interface
  • Two dual-link DVI-I and mini-HDMI outputs
  • Assassin's Creed Brotherhood game bundle
No word yet on how much the GeForce GTX 580 AMP2 Edition will cost or when it will ship.

Zotac seems to be really stepping up their game lately. Are they able to compete with EVGA's lifetime warranty yet when you register your product.

Funny how all of these grpahics card manufactuers are making 3GB cards with triple slot coolers and yet Palit's 3GB 580 is always out of stock!

Zotac is trying it's best to penetrate the US market but EVGA's outstanding forums, customer service, and warranty are still a step above

The fan shrouding looks cool but it doesn't appear to exhaust the heat externally. I'd be concerned about all of that heat being dumped into the case.

Don't worry, I'm sure the hundreds of enthusiasts who buy this will have sufficient cooling (along with kick ass lighting.)

The 580's run a little cooler than the 480's did. But you still have a valid concern if this card is installed into a case with substandard airflow/cooling. (or if SLI is used) Having never bought a Zotac card, I can't speak for their reliability, but as someone else mentioned earlier, EVGA's lifetime warranty and stellar tech support could make a huge difference when someone's considering spending so much on their computer. I wonder how many times that lifetime warranty has tipped the scales in EVGA's favor?
