You know... A while back, I was reading an article or something about a big LAN party that was sponsored by a few big companies. I think Nvidia was one of them. Anyways, I'm not sure if it was a competition or what. But they found a guy with the saddest looking pc and gave him a brand new one.
Ryu, if that was true i think everyone would bring their crappiest build :P lol. But its nice hes got a new computer now :P.
Also Super Dave... LOL
That's not crazy, there have been many guys who used a cardboard box as a computer.
Now I've seen somebody made a case that was entirely made out of case fans, now that's what I call crazy.
I wonder how the airflow was in that case :P
Were they functional? If so, what sort of PSU(s) did he need?
Probably not all the fans were plugged in or active, it was probably just the case of fans and a few needed to cool it was plugged in and active. There was that HDD case too :D.
Since it was made in 2003 or 2004. I'm guessing he'd be using a 750W power supply, and I'm also guessing that he daisy chained the fans using molex cables. Here is a link to the case I'm talking about.
Thanks for that link.
Two best quotes:
"covering over 95% of the case AND THEY ALL WORK!"
"it's a bit noisy"
If you look at that second picture you can see how he mounted the motherboard -- very precariously. Props to him for the creative case design.
LOL Xolso, im going to guess and say that's not a working build... I think its just the case cause where would you store the beer? :D, but if it is a build, that's sweet :) lol
Here are some nice looking ones :D http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/11.10/makeover_pr.html
I remember reading about this one... :D
Also put a few GTX 480s in there and maybe it can really be a working microwave too(Cooking part only)... :D
Whether if it was a competition or not, it was out of the blue. I want to say that Jen-Hsun Huang (co-founder of Nvidia) just walked around, found the worst looking build, and upgraded him. But my memory of reading this was really foggy. Either way, it was a huge Lan party event and you don't bring your worst rig to an event like that.
