my system is underclock?? or its settings might be wrong , i have an intel DP965LT mobo a C2D E6600 @2.4ghz that runs only at 1.6ghz because multiplier is locked and a 1 gig mem, the problem is that my processor multiplier is locked or is this a default settings of my mobo? can any one help me about this problem? on how to gain full power of my processors ability to 2.4ghz

Here is a spec picture of my system link to cpu -z

Perhaps it is throttling the multiplier due to too much heat? Download a program called Speed Fan and post your CPU temp.

What happens if you put 100% load on the cpu?

you might need to go into your bios and manually set the x9 for the E6600 in the multiplier. I suspect that might be the case i know my mobo came set with an x8 so i was running slower as well but i just changed it in the bios. if you a desktop then you cpu should not throttle but if your a laptop then it will change its multiplier to conserve its battery when is at idle; then when needed it will change its multiplier under load back to 9 for full power.

im using speed fan to read my temp as well as i also used intel utilities to monitor the temp i dont know whats wrong with my system it did not crash or hang up but the problem still it underclocked or maybe its my memory thats why it can not go to full power 2.4 i bought this memory for a cheap price, when i used cpuid the manufacturer was unknown , i think my system is forcing to go to 2.4ghz but the memory cant go to that point
