Thinking of upgrading my AMD A10-6800k to a new Ryzen CPU probably a 1600. Question is out of ASUS and MSI who has the better BIOS and overclocking potential for Ryzen? I'd rather not look into another Gigabyte board as I've had some issues with them in the past.

Any AM4 should work. Mostly up to preference. I plan on getting a Ryzen and I'll go with MSI most likely. Probably a B350

You'll get more bang for your buck so IF you have the 170 go for the MSI. Just make sure your case can support a radiator of some sort or maximum cooling with the overclocking.

We've had good luck with the ASUS boards as well actually. No issues with GB Ryzen boards either, frankly. Not sure you can really go wrong and it's just a question of what BIOS UEFI interface and features you like best.

I have a AsRock board but don't have a processor yet. I'll report back when I have it and play with the board.

I guess what puts me off is all the bad reviews on even the top brands , ASUS, MSI etc. Seems a lot of folks can't utilize their RAM to its full potential with the BIOS overclock. I'm still researching but, it drives my wife nuts because I become obsessed with all the reading about something before I take the leap. :skeptical

Hopefully everyone will start pushing out the new micro-code to fix the voltage/OC issues. I'm ready to start getting pieces for a new build and I'm tired of waiting lol.

Well I'm off to work, thanks for the feedback.

Hi All

I guess I'd differ to Dave's recommendations.

The MSI B350N is a nice board. My friend has his in a small case and takes it from his dorms, home or my house for gaming.
