I didn't see anything in the forums and I know that this isn't gadget or computer related but it is a huge deal. The Solar Eclipse is coming up on the 21st of August so I thought I would start a thread about it. Is anyone going to try to catch it? Where you live? Maybe on NASA or other web pages to get a great view? Solar Eclipse

I'll be traveling to Southern Illinois to see it. Light pollution is also at minimum where I'm going, BBQ is included!

Make sure you have a hotel or campsite, though most places are already booked!

True story, I'm fortunate enough that I will be staying with my girlfriend's parents, so that's a non-issue.

I hope you got the special glasses to view it. The last solar eclipse that was like this one I was in elementary school and we watched it around probably noon that day. Always keep this in mind, The Future Is So Bright That You Have Got To Wear Shades.

Here is some music to play while watching as well: Rabbit In The Moon Live At Ultraworld Eclipse

Sorry about that, I could not find that particular one. Thought it would have been kind of neat to have music from something called eclipse while having an actual eclipse. Will post this instead since link was nixed. Raver sacrifice : (

Also for anyone reading this I am a little scared to put a link, but you can find out where to get the correct glasses for viewing on the NASA website so that you don't hurt your eyes while trying to watch it.

Location: Rugby ND. WE have a small Ranch house 15 miles outside of town on the open prairie.

I will definitely be watching for the eclipse. The whole shebang reminds of the y2k scares. tongue

I don't see this anything like that. Eclipses happen every two years I believe, but one like this one in the states is rare and the last time I have seen one that's like this one was in elementary school.

The eclipse was amazing. The feeling of the moon going over the sun was something that felt very surreal. It just felt like a haze all over the place. Awesome experience.
