I have an older motherboard Gigabyte GA 7N400 Pro2 and I've noticed all of these socket 462 motherboards will have 4 DIMMS but only support 3GB max of memory. So what exactly is the point? I guess you could populate all slots by using 2x1GB sticks and 2x512MB sticks. Just seems odd to me. Is 3GB the max amount of memory a socket 462 cpu will handle?

I wonder if they said that because that was a limit of using an older 32bit OS that could only address up to 3GB?

Also looks like your limited to a 32bit processor as well - AMD AthlonXP / Athlon / Duron

Yup 3GB makes sense now.
