For me my first OS was Windows 95 on a compaq with a celerion processor running at 633mhz. Apparently my dad got a good deal on the 2 computers. They both had 14gigs of harddrive space with 256mb of ram.
I am interested in what you started out with.

I'm only 27, but I now feel really, really old. Kudos.
Had a cartridge port and early games were on cartridge, also has cassette drive and disk drive accessories and later software including games came on that medium. The OS was in ROM so no viruses you turned the machine off then on again and started up fresh.
That sounds very similar to my first set up, but I think I had a whopping 100MB hard drive lol.
And yet I just got made to show ID for a bottle of Nyquil. So I guess I'm doing alright... But yes: I remember the market at large thinking that a gig would be more than most people would ever need. I also remember when 64MB (Note the MB) USB drives were kept in a locked drawer behind the register of most retailers.
