Seems like it would make sense to consolidate the forums. IMO there are far too many subforums given the size of the size. There's plenty of forums topics that could be collapsed to try and consolidate things.

I like the idea of consolidation and streamlining of the forum topics.

These topics have been around FOREVER!

I think they are a little too granular, and there is some overlap. Many of them go without any new posts for a long time...

The issue is if an old guy returns, they'll have no idea where they posted in the past. This has come up before

I've seen on other forums where they will Create an "Archive" Section that maintains the old posts and the original folder structure but locks all the threads.

If you want to reopen the discussion, create a new post.

I don't think we should resist the change just because of the minor inconveniences of a handful of people.

Consolidating doesn't necessarily mean having to remove old posts but those could be purged as well after a few years. A lot of information will have changed a lot in 5 years so it may not be all the relevant. I just think fewer forum areas makes a lot more sense and would make it easier to find things.
