While we know that the entry-level Apple Watch will cost around $350, Apple has off up any information about the price for the other versions. However, according to French Apple website igen.fr, the stainless steel Apple Watch will cost $500 while a gold version will range from $4,000 to $5,000.

It is assumed that the $350 price tag will apply to the aluminum model, so $500 for the stainless steel version does not come as a shock. However, why the gold version would be priced so high is an interesting question to ask considering that, as of now, we don’t even know how much gold is being used in the design of the model though we know that there will be the 18-karat yellow gold and 18-karat rose gold versions.

Yet is any smartwatch worth paying that much for? Technology doesn’t retain its value, unlike a Rolex watch, and it can become obsolete rather quickly. These are obvious factors to consider for those who might be interested in buying the gold version. But then again, it could be that for those who purchase this high end version, such factors are moot.

Despite rumors that Apple will be releasing the Apple Watch in Spring of 2015, the French website also claimes that the company is looking to release the watch as soon as possible.

When do you think the Apple Watch will be available and would you buy the gold version if you had the money?

IMMMMMM it really depends on several factors with the most important being "how much Gold does the watch contain?" well as reports are already saying online, and as the son of a very high end Jeweler it looks like the case itself would be around $600 worth of gold if 18k is used, less if 14k is used. With the watch electronics that places the gold version around $800 for apple to make. So is $4000-5000 worth paying for a watch that should cost $1000-1200? CERTAINLY NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HOWEVER when it comes to jewelery and some watches, it is al about the name, two examples; Cartier, Tiffany's. Cartier sells a solid gold bangle bracelets that contain $700-1000 worth of cold for $6000-8000, why? simply because of the name. Maybe Apple thinks their name can also command 8x the market price of gold, I personally doubt people will fall for this in any amount that would matter.

Well if I had the money I would definitely like the gold one. Of course I want to know before I buy what features the watch offers, maybe try it on and see what happens. For that price, as opposed to the picture above it had better have a solid gold band.

And any watch that costs thousands of dollars should last a lifetime, this one will be obsolete in 1-3years. Oh and I'm sure a thousand dollar watch either does not need batteries or lasts close to a year on its batteries.
