Yes, it used a MOS 6507 8-bit CPU running at just a little bit over 1Mhz and 128 bytes of RAM. Carts were limited to 4kilobytes, but lots of the later games used bank-switching to flip between multiple 4KB banks.
I played with programming for it via emulators years back, and it gave me a lot of respect for some of those golden era developers. The extreme system limitations meant anything beyond pong needed lots of cool coding hacks.
For instance, consider that each of the TWO sprites could only have one color (out of ~128) each. The programmers would actually have to make the code change the sprite color and/or positions during the measily 68 clock counts of the horizontal blank (the time between drawing an individual horizontal line of pixels to the screen). This is why Pac Man and games like that had so much flicker - they were having to move two sprites around to play all of the parts. Compared to the luxuries we have today, this was black magic.
Oh dear, I bet those computer scientists are shaking their heads at the time they spent trying to make this tech possible, only to have it all shelved a few years later. You have to really applaud them for their magic though, truly impressive. Hell you have to thank gaming as well.

Gaming has done a ton for computing power. Back when the 2600 was designed, they shaved address pins off the CPU because they thought it would never need to access so much memory. Even 4KB was overkill at the time, because ROM was so expensive. Combat, which shipped with the system (and other early games) was s[censored]zed entirely into 2KB.
A few good games brought about an economy of scale, which made all of our current systems possible.
I find it hilarious and awesome at the same time, about how technology has advanced the way it has. Without video gaming, people wouldn't be pushed to make better technology. Just look at Directx11 for example, and how it is literally pushing the envelope at what is possible for video processing.
We also have to thank movies for video capture technology. Specifically Sci-Fi. Why? Because without the dream of creating something alien, non human or anything that takes place in space or outside of this universe advanced CGI and special effects probably wouldn't be as advanced as it is now.
VHS, DVD's and other media content really has it's thanks going to the Porno Industry. That's what I find most fascinating of all. Without pornos, VCR's and DVD players wouldn't have hit the big time at the rate that it did.
Finding the origin of something is pretty interesting I'd say.
I have a lot of thanks going towards gaming, I wish other people (anti video gamers) would see that.

Watch more 60's & 70's Sci-Fi and you will see.even before computers there were alot of tricks that had to be skillfully executed to make even the lamest man in a suit attack Tokyo. Lucas through ILM perfected all the classic techniques, and then he pioneered the computer for use in movies.

I have 2 prototype games, Pizza Chef and Immies & Aggies that were put on Copy Carts and I can't find any info on their value. Two questions come to mind:
1) How do I find an "Atari Expert"?
2) How to I figure out their value?
