Just wondering if anyone knew of a definite release date on this Quad?

My distributors have an availibility date of 3/21/08, so it should be right in that timeframe.

I hope that's true...We really do need those tasty penryn quads out sooner, it'll mean a price drop for the q6600 to 200! =D

At this point I'm about to say the heck with it and buy a E8400 and wait for Nehalem to come out and just build a new system. I think that the E8400 and some good overclocking would do me until then. However I did have my heart set on a Quad. These delays are getting ridiculous and makes you wonder what Intel is up too . Are they having problems with the new Quads or is it a marketing plot?

i'd say to wait for the qx9650 price to go down and buy it after that

Judging by the way the QX6700 and others held their value , I seriously doubt that the QX9650 would drop enough in price to be afforable . In fact I'm reading reviews on the Q6600 and may even snag it for around 250.00 and wait to see what happens with the future prices.

id personally wait for nehalem... the penryns will be nice, but with nehalem comes a brand new motherboard (and cpu) architecture... good bye FSB and hello QPI!

 Ditto.

I may pickup a cheap quad in a few months (after the April 20 price drop), but other than that I will wait at least a year for cheaper boards, Nehalem quads (or octos) and cheaper DDR3.

I doubt anything will be coming out that can beat a 3.0 ghz quad or 3.5 ghz dual by enough to justify waiting.

from the specs that Nehalem has,and the Bloomfield motherboards,I can say you must wait at least 2 or 2 and 1/2 years till the new boards/cpu will come to a resonable price. You will also be obliged to buy straight DDR3
