OK.....My new Conroe setup is not living up to its hype. Either that or I have something wrong. I am using the same video card on both and the same amount of RAM. Everything is stock speeds.

AMD SYSTEM:

Athlon 4200 X2
GA-K8NXP Sli MB
1 GIG (512X2)Corsair XMS XPERT 2.2.2.5
single 80 GIG SATA2 SEAGATE HD

Intel System:

E6300 Conroe
ASUS P5B-E MB
1 Gig (512X2) Corsair Value Select DDR2
single 80 GIG SATA2 SEAGATE HD

Any thoughts?!.....Because it's a 800 point difference. I'm told this should not be happening and should be the other way around and then some. I have tried RAM with tighter timings but it doesn't help much. Could it be a bad performance MB?

i think there's a number of factors
1. Is the AMD System oc'd?
2. Notice that the AMD ram is XMS
3. Your mobo might be the case, but i think it is still superior to the Gigabyte one.

I used high end mushkin ram as well and it's still not cracking it....the AMD is at stock speeds so nothing is overclocked. I'm starting to lean on the fact that I don't have a fast enough processor. My friend has the same configuration but higher processor and his blows my AMD setup out of the water. Mabee I should try the 6600 like he has. I thought this would be good enough.

BTW.....carefull on what you say about Asus and Gigabyte.....they have an agreement to have things made in the same factory with the same parts. Just a different layout.
