Does anyone know how to set agp 8x down to 4x???
i have a radeon 9700 pro and 8INXP. I tried to use smartgart but it resets everytime.

Go into your BIOS and change it from auto to 4X.

I looked around in my bios for 15 min and couldnt find the option that would let me do it. Even in the hidden settings. Someone told me its the advanced bios features section......but i just dont see it........-_-

in the bios look at the word agp...and where its auto try to change the setting with + or - with your keyboard

i know where is my setting on my mobo but dunno with your mobo...keep looking around the word agp

is that a P4 board? I didnt know they had P4 chipset that supported agp 8x. And I also didnt know agp 8x made a difference :confused:

Granite Bay is the first P4 chipset to support 8x AGP AFAIK, anyway any performance differences will be minimal ( if any ! )

AGP 8x ( subset of AGP 3.0 ) uses Octal Data Rate with 66MHz base frequency to effectivly be 533MHz.
It is 32 bit and therefore gives just over 2Gb/s data transfer.
