What's a diglet? There are some words I'd just rather not google and that one's just strange enough looking to be on the list.

Agh! My secret is finally out. All these years I've been faking it by knowing sort of knowing who Pikachu is. But you know what, it actually feels good to be honest. You're right. I have never played pokemon.

Pardon the temporary Pokemon interruption :blushing: but here's some more light reading on the stakes of Zen (and Polaris). Just a 5 part series this time. AMD has been on the ropes for a long time and is promising to be able to really go toe-to-toe with Intel and nvidia. If they're over-promising what the tech is capable of, I'm not sure their current businesses can keep them together. I think they could end up getting sold for parts.

If Polaris/Zen flops, and not in the tech way, this could be the break apart of AMD that was glaring over the horizon.

It will kill AMD. they have their hands in enough products... but it will hurt. It could even drive the stock down enough to get buyout offers (Rumor is MS is eyeing them already).

But.. if Zen/Polaris/(and even the new FX) live up to the specs, you will see a return of team Red

We haven't seen a tech company that has (had?) a tech presence like AMD die out. I'd be worried for users where their support may end for their products. It could be quite wonkey tbh.

I assume you meant "won't" from context. But I wasn't imagining a death so much as their various businesses getting sold to different companies. Intel is already licensing some AMD tech, and they could use some help in onboard graphics. MS and sony both use AMD in consoles. Any of the big ARM companies might be tempted to buy AMD to expand into x86 and limit their exposure to Intel's Atom/core m in mobile at the very least, but perhaps also to expand their chromebook options. The link above lists several other non-consumer businesses which might have different buyers. I think if AMD does face a sale, they won't stay intact.

as long as there is competition for nvidia and intel we will all be fine
