Which one do you think is better? Why? Also, I am getting my daughter her first cell phone (age 14). What would be a good one for her? It doesn't have to be loaded with features, just the standard stuff. But one that is reliable and easy to use.

Android would be better. It won't be as easy to break and it will be cheaper to get.

I'd get her a flip-phone but that's just me. No way I'm getting my kids a smart phone at that age. Most kids do not take care of their stuff so I'd go cheap as I would with a car or anything else.

I've never had an issue with any Android device. When I've had errors they are quick at releasing fixes and updates. Affordability is nice too, it always seemed like Iphone and other Apple products were too pricey. Customer service with Apple has never had a positive outcome for me; whether it'd be a hardware or software issue or a general question, just nothing helpful from my experience. Although I hear HTC devices are a very nice deal as well. I'm not too sure on the exact details, but it's worth checking out. All in all I am overwhelmingly satisfied with my Android.

Android, it's easy to use, cheaper because she's going to break or lose it; -)

I agree. Kids break things so easily and I've seen first-hand from personal experience how delicate many phone gadgets are...it doesn't make any sense to buy an expensive phone only to misplace it or break it or get it wet. I'm very glad to hear parents being sensible and practical when buying such gadgets for their children.

This battle lasts for the eternity! Samsung against apple is always on play among the people and as for me, I prefer apple because it is totally supported.

Apple or Android? Well, I have used both and loved both. But I am a bit biased towards Android smartphones .

I would say a lower end Tracfone for a first phone.
