well if i had lots of dvd rips i would have them archived to cdr/dvdr and not rely on keeping them on disk unless you intend to run a dump/ftp server, but that would be illegal

and use one for backup. HDD's are cheap, at least compared to the rest of the PC parts.

Get two 60 or 80 gb ones and a Highpoint 133 raid card. That'll kick some A55.

The 160 gig will run hotter and louder than the 120 gig. They would both be about the same speed. Either go with the 120, or the 180 (3x 60).

I have both hard drives (120/160). Both run at the same tempature and produce the same amount sound. For those who are going to ask "how do I know this?", your answer is I get the tempature through my Vantec EZ Swap trays and the sound through my good old ears. Now for the decision on which one to get. I would get the largest possible. I hate running out of space on my HDD's. The price per GB is better with the 160GB comming at $1.06/GB. The 120GB comes at $1.25/GB. If you can afford the 160GB with no problem get it.

i would say go for the 120 GB JB because it would be better for u to be away from facing problems like Ez- bios and it is easy to handle too.

I'd say go for the 120gb Hard Drive and with the money you've saved get a CD-RW drive.
