does the ddr2 ram hold it back at all?
Yeah kinda surprised about that too. I didn't think that stuff was still available in quantities large enough for a OEM to bother with.

Samsung announced the production of the Industry’s first 2GB LPDDR3 Mobile Memory, Using 30nm-class Technology, back in September 2012... So unlike the PC market, the mobile market is still waiting to transition to DDR3...
Why only 2GB memory and USB2 instead of USB3? How much is saving for the company?
They need more mone for developing something new. So old parts are cheaper.
