Win 2k is not designed for games... It is a Windows NT environment... Update windows and you should have no more probs

but 2k beats any other windows OS and it's networking is awesome, 98 has crappy networking. But i'm running dual OS's so i can install the games on 98 anyway

Run ME, get the fixes for it, and play on that... That is ALL NT is good for is networking... Windows NT - Networks Including XP and Every other for gaming

win 98 networking is AWESOME I think it beats the **** out of XP (then again I tried XP only once and I have been using 98 for 5 years  )

Most uneducated assumption EVER.

What video card do you have? Windows2000 ROCKS for games. My two best friends and I all have windows2000 pro, and all of us together have 50+ games on our computers...new and old...and they all run flawlessly...just as well if not better than with 98 or ME.

It just heavily depends on your video card and drivers.

Win2K gave me jip to start off with on my TNT2 and then GeForce2, get the latest detonator drivers from nVidia if you havent already.

I play OpenGL coded games all the time fine.

Going by personal experience PB, not an uneducated assumption.

Every windows 2000 I have used is K-Rap for games (especially emulators), but networking and playing games (doom and Quake II) it is the best for.
I sugeest ME for game playing, 2000 for Netwoprking... XP blows

Well then you've got bad luck or are doing something wrong. Not only does EVERY game I have tried work (even old DOS games), I have an Super NES, N64, and Original NES emulators with games that all work fine aswell.

Windows2000 Professional is a superb OS. And I am not just going by my experience alone, I have built 4 computers for friends (and put Windows 2k Pro on all of them) and I haven't got ONE complaint. My friends and I have no problems aswell. And if you'll conduct general online research and polls you can see that it is an excellent OS for everything...media, games, programs, etc...

Its just hardly justifiable to recommend 98se or ME over 2000 Pro or XP.

yay, the cavalry has arrived heh Win2k all the way. 98 is good for older games, that's about it. ME sucks ass as does XP. (plus win2k is better for other "networking tools". I'm a bit of an obsessed packet monkey, so sue me.

I have had success with 98 and ME, therefore, I will reccomend them. Win2k never wanted to run my playstation emulator no matter what I did (nor did XP). Win2k may be good for what you say, but it is all a matter of preference. Can you have a go at me for not prefering your particualr OS?

Yes Anyway i'll agree with you on the ps1 emulator. Connectix VGS only works on 98 and 95. Best ps1 emulator out there. I'm not sure but i think you could use it to run ps2 games, all you need is a DVD player. I gotta try it one day. Come to think of it, connectix vgs is the only reason i am running 98 on my dual boot ah well

I have ePSXe. Its great. Doesn't run on XP, my reason for not having it major, but I don't like it anyway.
And that PS2 Idea won't work... An emulator is said to not be available until another 2 years at least

Icebane: it technically should run, because a ps2 runs ps1 games. I'm assuming that they both use the same system to run their games. The reason you can't play ps2 games on ps1 is because they are DVD. So technically, If you had a DVD rom with a ps1 emulator, it should be possible.
