This whole thing is interesting really as the whole world is becoming more and more entwined with the web in general. The big point here is everyone in the world can now get on the web for relatively cheap. Yes many such as gamer's, students, developers, writers, artists and others need a desktop or a technically solid laptop, but really no one else does. The general public needs a slate or a smart phone. They can do the banking, bill paying, communications, and web browsing just as easy and relatively cheaper than with a PC where you would need a web connection specifically for it. You still need a phone though which is where the whole thing price wise makes or at least incites the changes. You can get a smart phone that is a wireless hot spot or hub, and you want as well as need a phone too. Drop the PC from the whole combination price wise and just have your smart phone your costs just dropped roughly 45-100 a month depending on your bandwidth. A smart phone or slate is also considerably cheaper than a PC at roughly half the price in general. Yes there are many things you cannot do with a smart phone/slate but generally for life communications and commerce all you need is 1 thing either a smart phone or slate.
