@RealNeil - I think the issue more related to the fact that this is a prototype board. The original Nano single-core platfor I tested is still up and running every day.
I was speaking of my past experiences with VIA Chip-Set Motherboards. (several manufacturers) When I was selling computers as a way to bolster my finances years ago, I found that VIA was a very inexpensive option and bought into them in a big way. I ended up having to eat several mainboards that failed, so I quit buying VIA anything. (once bitten, twice shy)
I don't doubt that their design is a good one, but their quality certainly used to be lacking. Maybe all that has changed now. I realize that a lot could have changed with them in the years that I have ignored their products, I certainly hope it's so.
EDIT: To be fair about this, many of the PC's that I built using VIA Parts worked for a long time without problems.
