Quality is something I look forward to finding out about. I'm glad to see it for sale on Amazon, as I'll return it if it sucks, but since Mad Catz bought up Saitek and supposedly made them in charge of these sorts of things, I think it'll be alright.
I didn't know that. I have a Saitek Joystick that I really like. This does look like something Saitek would make.

What is the fanaticism for cutting
edge keyboard/mouse combos?
I have a default Dell Keyboard/Mouse and I game just as effectively
as people with a $100 mouse. When I used to play World of Warcraft, I
was more effective than people in my party with those keyboards
specifically designed for WoW macros.
As far as FPS games go a good mouse and mousepad makes a big difference. I am not saying a good mouse makes me better than someone with a basic mouse, but it does improve your game. With Wow it may not make as big a difference, but for sniping a mouse with 2000DPI and nice Teflon feet with a nice mousepad is going to be more precise.
As far as nice keyboards go. I wouldn't buy that. A nice keyboard with something like cherryMX switches is nicer to type on. Cheap keyboards use rubber domes under the buttons. They have a soft mushy feel. Different keys will require different amounts of pressure and there is no nice click you feel that lets you know the key has been pressed.
If you use either for a extended period of time you would not wanna go back. Trying out a nice mouse is not going to help, because you have to develop the muscle memory. Using it for a quick trial you will just overturn things.
