People really need to lock their phones...

At least it isn't as dumb as a guy trying to shove a video card down his pants at the Best Buy my roommate works at.

Though apparently thieves that hit Micro Center are smart (or the employees are just stupid). One guy bought a 5870, put a water bottle in it with the correct amount of water in it so it weighs the same as the card, and then shrunk wrapped the box.

I thought that those boxes have the actual card's barcode exposed with windows in the box and packaging. The micro center guys didn't notice that, then they deserve to perish.

I think what he is saying is that the guy bought the video card kept it,.....and then returned the box with dead weight in it for a refund.

I could be wrong though.

That is hilarious realneil, calling the cops on themselves. I know there are emergency keys on almost every phone which call 911. On a lot of them if you press and hold down 9 it will do it, and sometimes there a special on like just holding down Dial/send to. How bright would you feel if you called the cops on yourself. There is also obviously no defense in a court room either.

Another 'not a rocket scientist' candidate right there,............There are many of them out there. I read about them all of the time.

Some even go as far as to win the coveted, 'Darwin Award' for themselves.

that was what i was thinking too but them those customer support or who ever u go to return the item to is pretty stupid to not notice it...

Yes, they used the water bottle as dead weight.

The thing is, the Asus package for the 5870 (and most other grahics cards) don't have that little window that shows the card's part-number or barcode.

There was another incident, which would have been super hilarious if it was on a higher priced item, was with the Scythe fans. Someone switched one of the S-Flex fans (around $20) with one of the Kaze-Jyun (around $12). You would think he would bring the box that had the lower price tag to the cashier with the higher priced fan.... He did the opposite. Paid more for the lesser priced fan.

I wonder if the kids phone dialed 9-1-1 sequentially or if he had it in his recent calls or speed dial. Still, I find it hilarious and depressing at the same time :P

im going to guess speed dial because most phones have it as speed dial (ones i got at least)
