You have made a monster in me. I have been at work since 8am, but have done nothing because of you. This is what I have done, its so much fun!!
I am also including the project file so you can play with it, if you have software installed to read it. I just have to find somewhere to host it. As the files section here will not allow me to host it here.
Ah rapidshare to the rescue, I think.
what program is that in?
Google's Sketchup, The intended use I think is for their 3D buildings, as found used in Google Earth, but its very easy to go ahead and do what ever you want with it. I heard about it from Tanka12345, and decided to start playing with it. Above picture is the result of maybe four hours of play/learning.
as found here
[Y] Nice model! Is it a spaceship type thing?
Its tank design (adaption if you will) for use with a role playing game my friends and I are playing right now. Moreover it is a very entertaining way to waste time.
It beats working anyday! What if your boss sees you doing SketchUp? [;)]
Its unlikely due to the nature of my work.
But if he were to find me wasting time I am sure there would be hell to pay. Either way my work for the week is done so I am in good position.
You should add colour to your tank, and make some more. Then you can show your Boss your amazing SketchUp skills and get a promotion! [;)]
Colour or not this new pass time is not going to get me, a maintenance guy any kind of promotion as I see it.
BUT: Here's more work on that same tank.
Oh, is it Computer Maintenance? Wheres the updated tank?
There linked in pictures, dunno why they didn't show before.
My job doesn't have me using computers at all. I do alot of different things but computers have little to do with it.
Nice pics. You're alot better than me considering your time using SketchUp. My PGU (Portable Graphics Unit) model took me days, and it mainly uses rectangles/squares, which are alot easier (IMO) than your cylinders and irregular shapes. Great Work, Keep it up! [:)]
have you ever uesd Gmax???
Me? If you're asking me I haven't.
have you ever uesd Gmax???
No Sir, as a matter of fact the only 3D work I have ever done was some autocad way back in highschool drafting (being 27 yrs old that feels like a seperate life ago).
But I find it this sort of thing interesting, more over I want to find a way to animate it. As shown I made it a posable model. I have been working on it some more, soon the main gun will be able to elevate or depress, and the auto cannon on the side willl have a pivot locaion for its hard point as well.
However I would truely love to be able to watch it fly around somewhere, instead of just imagining it.
