CompuGlobalHyperMegaNet (simpsons reference!)

so you design website for people in your town, and you want a website to showcase your abilities right? how about *town name*webdesigns.com or something along that line? you could also get something like what amd suggested (i 2nd the firehawk webcreation ). just be carefull a bit, having a website named penisland, can be pen island, or [censored]land. so be carefull a bit in that respect. you dont want to drives a customer away because they misreading the site!

Going with the fire theme.[;)]

Using your town name seems a very wise thing too, unless you think it could accidently "limit" your customer options.

Exactly what I'd recommend, too. Think about SEO (search engine optomisation)  from the ground up, but also make it a memorable URL and type-friendly for users.

I've just recently started changing the copy on my own (very old) website to target local searches rather than more generic terms I was using in the past. I also submitted my details to any business directories that rank well in Google, some of them link to your site and this can help with search engine rankings, as long as the directory isn't considered spammy. I'm currently waiting for search engine bots to pick up my changes as they still have an old version cached.

But in contrast, if you change towns you're stuck with a URL that is tied to your original town!

I just wish I could go back to choosing a name, and therefore URL, though. "Control PC" was OK for what i used to do, but means nothing to my new direction but it's too well linked to to go changing it now [8-)]

Also, don't go for anything too geeky or something you might regret later (e.g. a forum username) or a term/name that already shows up on Google for other subjects where your company name won't show up in a search.
