I currently have a lacie brand external hard drive and was wondering is there any way to take it out the case and put in my pc case. It currently connects via a usb cable. I didnt know how the external hard drives are inside.

I suspect that, inside of the case, your hard drive is like any other internal hard drive.

External drives come in 2 types.

1. Smaller ones (2.5 ") are internally laptop drives. U will need an adaptor to fit it in ur case.

2. Larger ones (3.5 ") are desktop hardisks. If ur External Drive is less than an yr old, its more likely to be a SATA else IDE. There might be harddisk name somewher in te manual that came along. the model number can tel you what type it is.

ANyways, ur case should have bo9th IDE and SATA so no worries.

I hope it clear ur question.

Cheers
