My Good friend at work has decided the time has come for a new Warcraft work horse. It's been a while since he built a PC, and seems to get the impression somewhere that I am upto date with the latest hardware - when the truth is, im not.

Anyhow - he's gonna pay me for building it - so he doesnt need to know that.

Reckons he's got 1000 GBP to play with, or $1885 USD

The PC will literally be for playing games, and nothing else.

The budget is for the base unit alone - monitor and peripherals will be bought extra.

No parts can be salvaged from his old machine - as he is using it as a file server.

Needs a floppy drive, DVD re-writer.

No need for SLI or any of that nonsense.

Wants to allow as much as possible room for upgrading in the future.

Will be buying around christmas time.

Eat your hearts out

hmm the graphics card seems a bit light IMO. I would say a 7900gt since he'll be primarily gaming.
