Hey guys I am a Intel Fan... Maybe bcoz their line of CPUs are less confusing and I see there are no posts in this section, so here I go...

I need a suggestion. I have finally decided to upgrade my CPU from 630 (P4 3.0 HT 2MB) to a 945 (Dual Core 3.4 4MB) its going to cost me roughly $100 (as I can sell 630 on eBay!!).
So what do you guys say!? is it worth $100 ? Am I going to see any significant difference?

My other options of spending $ 100 are:-

Upgrade memory to 2 GB

Change my PSU as it makes a high pitch low volume noise... it started happening after a Thunder strike which rebooted my comp Is this noise something serious enough to change the PSU? It has been around 2 months now and I haven never experienced any problems what so ever... For $ 100 I am also planning to add a nice sound card as the Intel[censored]ard one's drivers just sucks period.

Id say do it.

Hows the Ninja treating you? what case do you have. im thinking of maybe getting one. but im not too shure yet.

Ninja is awsome no question about. Lives up to its reputation. but it does need a fan. I am using Scythe 120mm 800 rpm one, it does the job and is noiseless. I have put the silverstone one to cool the HDDs. My case is SonataII. Its a nice case. No complaints.
It has 450Watt SmartPower 2.0 PSU and thats is the one I plan to replce...

how well does your ninja fit in that case? its about the same size as mine that the reason im aking. i have a thermaltake tsunami btw...

for the PUS i think seasonic make top quality ones and there really efficient and quite.

Fits pretty well... its huge and fins are very thin so you want to be carefull, there is till some room to spare even on the PSU side. Just had to tuck in the wires... Sonata has a air duct which seemed pretty useless, that had to be thrown out.

I'm in the middle of my first PC-build..and I'm useing a Mobo that will allow a Celeron D Proceesor..but this Mobo is a Pentium Board(D915GAGL)..
I was thinking Pentium....and it was coming in at $$290-dollars..
A CELERON D was $$70-dollars...useing the same Motherboard....drives are SATA....
I need XP-Professional....
The Pentium will go as high as 3.2 GHz...asking for 4-GB's of RAM....
also SATA-drives....needing like 400-watts minimum POWER....Supply....
But actually you will need a PSU=600-700 WATTS....

I have decided to go with Pentium D 945. I will receive it today... Will keep updating with the results!!

The 945 at current low prices is an excellent value.

Runs hot though... with my ninja630 would run just under 50 without any fan. This one runs just under 65 without fan. I put the Fan on the Ninja and now getting arounf 57 at idel and around 70 at 80% load... Man its hot...

I still need another KINGSTON RAM Module to have TOTAL RAM=1-GB..
and a better DVD-ROM/RW..the Toshiba is only a DASH-format..I want to add Serial SATA..
so a second BURNER will be installed..the TOSHIBA is a excelent DVD-ROM Drive..its a "screamer" on Installs..

I've been doing TEST-drives for about three days now and NOT one problem..
..
I had a Chrome Stand-off touching the rear of the Mobo at the original install..the Monitor would NOT come out of Stand-by..
Intel Support had me re-do the Mobo..the PC started immeadiately..
..
The PC Power & Cooling Silencer 470[400watt]..tends to warm up the Chassis Interior..I went to Home DEPOT and purchased some STICKY-one-side-Insulation..called PIPE WRAP Insulation tape..2-inches wide..I placed some of this on the Base of the Psu/..seems to help the operation..
..
This PC runs great..I may not but myself thru the aggravation again..but did need to use the DELL Dimension 2350 case..I paid about $700.00 w/the REBATE..and must have spent another $$500.00 over the next 5-years it ran..like $$1200.00-easy..
..
So now its another $$400-dollars..that's like $$1600.00/the PC is flawless at the moment..
I'm giving credit to the New OS a FULL VERSION XP-Pro..$$279.00
..
Its still a matter of Power management..I'd rather say nothing concerning this because of the risks..
But a performance was created from the initial Start-UP..leaveing some things behind..getting down to BASICS seems the RULE of a Celeron D..
