My current config is
P4 2.8GHz
1GB RAM 3200
R9600 SE 128MB AGP

I am having an average 5fps in 3dMark05 in battle of proxycon and other tests.
Does anyone know what should I expect when install X800 XL 256MB AGP and add 512MB RAM?Any suggestions what to do else to improve the config?

Adding more RAM is pointless for gaming once you already have 1GB

Tweaking your settings will improve performance - e.g. getting rid of all non-required stuff in windows (checkout www.BlackViper.com ), defrag your HDD (only affect load times though) and reduce memory timings etc.

X800 XL will certainly be faster, but there is no guarantee as to how much because what matters is the balance of components in your system.

Have you tried anabling fast writes and 8x AGP and disabling AGP spread spectrum and other BIOS settings for your hardware?
Have you tried latest Catalyst drivers and various settings within them - put things on apoplication preference and disabled Vsync when benchmarking, but be sure to re-enable Vsync before gaming.

What matters is real world gaming performance - 3D Mark05 is ahead of what most games use.

the power of the graphics card is dependant on applicaton also more benefit would be gained by stating your score(in 3d marks) rather than fps in a particular scene .
for exampel i had
P4 2.4 GHz
1 GB RAM
9600 Pro
and got a score of 1500
when i upgraded to a 6600 GT my score went to
3000

you should expect 4500-5000 marks
so as you can see X800 XL was a worthy purchase and will be a big pay off.

do you think that I should at least get 25fps in 3dmark

With a 9600SE on 3dMark2005? No you shouldn't get 25fps. That card tbh is pretty naff compared to an X800XL.

Well on my rig I get about 23-25 FPS on Return to Proxycon and 25FPS on Canyon flight. Thats with everything OC'd as in my rig below though.

fr im guessing stands for "full retail" meaing you get the box the manual and all the sofware and calbes it comes with, if it says OEM in the product description that means its just the card on its own

The 9600SE is a pretty terrible card, so the fact that it barely runs 3DMark05 isn't very surprising. The X800XL is simply a different class of card from the 9600SE and any comparison is pretty pointless. And agreeing with Bothware, the extra 512MB won't really give you any benefit.

Where are you thinking of getting those cards from? Any links? The X800XL will outperform the X800Pro, but not usually by any huge margin. In the UK at least the X800Pro is a good deal cheaper than the X800XL so if a pretty good buy, but both cards are good value.

Definately, but the 9800Pro is still perfectly adequate for most games. I would say, on average, you might see something like a 70-80% increase in benchmarking scores, but less in most games. On lower resolutions (1024 and sometimes 1280) the 9800Pro actually still doesn't fall a huge distance behind the newer X800 cards (as low as a 10-30% difference between the two), but it really depends on the game and the gap widens a lot after you start jacking up the resolution and/or AA/AF.

I am buying the X800 XL from Croatia, it costs me some 200Euro,while the X800 Pro Costs 300Euro.

In that case don't even consider the X800Pro and get the X800XL.
