By accident I connected my ide cdrom to the system when it was turned on and broke it.
Does someone know if this can be fixed?
I dont have any real hope that I can fix it, and it was a $10 cdrom, but Im posting this because maybe someone can explain why this things broke so easy, and maybe even tell me how to fix this.

IDE drives are not "hot swapable". This means the power must be off before you connect or disconnect them. Youy can put another controller card on the drive, but it must come from an identical drive. For a CD-ROM it's not worth the cost. Consider this a $10 lesson .
