I just got an ADSL connection and I want to enjoy online gaming to the max..........without going all the way and buying a Geforce 3

I am not sure wether to buy a 3d prophet gefore 2 gts 32mb, or a 3d prophet kyro II 64mb....

they are about the same price...but i am not sure which gpu gives the best game performance. The kyro has no T&L.........and the gts has only 32mb of ram.

Any wise masters of the ~ancient~ art of 3d graphics around?

Kyro II - Great card... cheap/affordable... just that depending on what games you want to play, it won't run as well as a geforce2 would.

Geforce2 - great card... depending onw here you buy it, affordable... will run everything just fine w/ no problems.

it comes down to a price issue. i personally would get the geforce2, just because i have been impressed with NVidia's driver support (in and out of Windows/Linux) and their cards.

I am still not so sure.

I have visited the hercules web site and found out that new highly improved drivers have been developed for the kyro....including full directX 8 support.

On doing some research i found out that the gts is very good at overclocking.......which is always worth keeping in mind. Also the 32mb of ram do not seem to be such a big problem. My monitor only supports a max resolution of 1280 x 1024.

Kyro II -- Innovative

GTS -- Powerfull

Bigwop...one of the HotHardware reviewers...swears by the Kyro II. I really wouldn't worry about the hardware T&L as the Kyro has enough power to do just fine. Personally I'd get the Kyro.

I just love the idea behind the kyro II. Altough it has a much slower core and memory speed when compared to the gts, it atchieves similar results thanks to its efficiency.

however it seems that the game industry is supporting the geforce architecure more than any other.

a new kyro chip could really blow the geforce cards out of the water.

From those 2 cards, I would go with the GeForce2 GTS....

It's faster, has T&L....

I think the GeForce2 GTS 32mb would be better than the 64MB Kyro II card..

just my opinion

Suddenly, Iam not quite sure it is such a good time to buy a new graphic card.

Apparently the Geforce 3 ti 200 will have similar performance to a normal Geforce 3 and cost only about half of the price.

I think it would be better to go the extra distance. Yet, I just don't want to spend too much on a graphic card.

"May the future of pc gaming smile on the card I decide to buy."

AND MAY THE FORCE GUIDE MY HAND.................AND MOUSE!

Creative has a promotion in the UK for a GTS, 79 same as a 32Mb GF2 Mx!!!!! a Kyro 2 64MB is 64MB OnTVout is 112

And the Geforce3 TI200 is around 200, it depends how much you can get to spend, if you save then in the long run the TI200 will be better off

To say that a Geforce 2 is faster is a total farse...in fact the Kyro was up to the Pro Geforce 2 in some benchmarks....

Geforce2 is DX8, per pixel shading cubic mapping etc, just not as much as the Geforce3 DX8/8.1 features.
