Given that Athlons tend to benefit less overall from dual channel operation, I'm a little curious as to how to go about upgrading my memory.

When I put together the system(sig) I went with a matched pair of Kingston HyperX PC3700 sticks, each 256MB. My mobo has 3 slots, so I'm considering just grabbing a 512MB stick. The other option would be to blow a considerably larger sum on a matched pair of 512MBs and eBay my current sticks.

One factor pushing in the second direction would be Canada's sudden dearth of PC3700 modules; would it be a bad thing to buy a PC3200 stick and use it with my existing RAM (considering I can only get my FSB to 214MHz)?

Opinions very much appreciated.

Yeah the XPs don't really benifit from dual channel much at all.

Seems a waste getting PC3200 since it will limit your current (and very highh, is that a Mobile) overclock. I'd sell the 2 sticks you have now and get 2x512MB sticks of PC3700 or higher or add another PC3700 stick, but adding a different brand into the mix may limit your OC a little.

The reason I say sell now is 2x512MB sticks would benifit you in an A64 or Pentium set-up so if you enevfr decinde to upgrade you can take the RAm across with you and have dual-channel.
