if you were using an older operating system to format the 80GB hd your may not be able to veiw the files on the hard drive unless it is converted wich can be done by using an upgrad disc to convert its file system to ntfs without erasing any data. if you have an operating system installed on the 80gb hd then boot from that and upgrade the file system. you can upgrad it using and uprgrade disc newer than windows 98, so windows 2000, ME, XP.

so your saying you did NOT format the 80GB? At all?...well you have to even if you just want to use it as storage.

I dont know if I understand correctly. Before that upgrade u made, when you installed the 80gb hdd you must have formated it, otherwise u wouldnt be able to use it?!
Or did u get that hdd from someone already formated?

All hard drives must be formatted regardless.
either that or you may have formatted your smaller H/D as NTFS and your 80GB drive might be FAT or vice-versa, they must all be the same flavour, all FAT or all NTFS
