Can some kind soul let me know if they think a Athlon 800 system would run better with 1 * PC133 128 mb ram or 2 * PC100 128mb ram.

I am running a lot of games, nothing in the way of cad systems or really memory intensive apps, oh except for Unreal Tornament

Many thanks in advance

Its common sense,
Remember the more memory you have the more space your computer has to store and retrive files. Your memory speed is how fast it takes your computer to retrive that stored file. Having 1gig of memory like me will make your system dance. I have 4, 256sdram at 133 in mine. You can never have enough memory!

Right! you just can't have too much RAM. I use 8Gibabytes of DDR3-1600 in both of my PC's nowadays.

Hey mred I would go with a minimum of 4 gigs if the board can support it. If not I would go for the maximum, which should be at a minimum 2 gigs in split config (so if 2 gigs in 2 1 gig sticks running in dual channnel, if 4 gigs 2 2 gig sticks in dual channel etc.)

Yeah I was wondering about efficiency on a 4GB vs 6GB spread x2. I guess the 1366 I7 chips are the most efficient though. I don't know anyone who has one though. 4 slots is all anyone I know has.

Lol rapid1. Many a times I've responded to a thread on here only to realize it's several years old.

Haha, I feel bad about laughing at the poster bragging about his 1 GB of RAM. Little does he know Vista is coming for him....

Rofl, well if he is current and I am thinking he is not here any more because I don't see any current posts from him ( I need to click his user name and see I guess lol), this issue has been long solved. Either way it is kind of cool to see where we were and where we are from a real world perspective.

Yeah Mred and Megaton are both long gone. Kind of funny if you think about it I wonder how many user names there are on this site which have been inactive for a year or more, but still exist? As an admin I wonder how they deal with it. I know if it was me I would clear every inactive user name after some amount of time (way less than 10 years, most like 2), and all there posts. I think this site has enough posts on a relative basis to warrant that and still stay full. This kind of post on a site where technology at the least changes in a major way over 2 years (heck 6 months nowadays it seems), with differing and new functionality all around.

2 pc 100 will give more than half of that in a faster ram.
