I tried to replace a P4 2.0A with a Celeron 1.8 on an IBM 845G mainboard and it didn't work.
I mean the screen remained black even thou the fans were working.
I switched the procs but the problem remained.
What went wrong?
HOW CAN I FIX THIS PROBLEM????

Have you cleared the CMOS?

I've cleared it. I've also removed the battery. Nothing!
The Celeron also works on a different mainboard.

What mobo are you trying to put it in? Your board may support the P4, but not the Celly.

Example:

Early socket 370 boards would support lets say a 600MHz P3 but only a 450MHz Celly. Or the newer FC2 would not run on earlier 370's, ie; not supported.

Just a guess.

you probably bumped into something while installing the CPU.... you did put the HSF back on right.... you can never turn on a comp without the HSF

reseat everything, and make sure the cpu fan power is into the cpufan1 header
